The Scientific Association of the Faculty of Mathematics at Shiraz University of Technology, on the occasion of commemorating Omar Khayyam and National Mathematics Day, organized a seminar entitled “Yesterday and Today of Science in Iran (A Look at Khayyam’s Mathematics)” on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
The invited speaker of the seminar was Mr. Mostafa Hematabadi, a former faculty member of Shiraz University of Technology. Faculty members and students of the Faculty of Mathematics, as well as students from the engineering faculties, attended the seminar.
During the event, students became familiar with the rich scientific heritage of ancient Iran and learned about the scientific lives and achievements of renowned scholars such as Al-Khwarizmi and Omar Khayyam.
According to the faculty members and students, the seminar was highly valuable and informative. At the end of the event, Dr. Talaei, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, presented a commemorative gift to Mr. Hematabadi and expressed her appreciation for his valuable presence, insightful lecture, and significant contribution to the seminar.
